Artist Statement



I use cast-off dresses and imbue them with memories of the cycles of life. The use of used clothing soaked with clay slip produces touchstones of memory and reflection. At the same time, I create dolls that relate to childhood yet leave the viewer with the power to reproduce or recall something learned and retained. The surface of the clay is darkened through the raku process and represents a nod to the fading memories of our own pasts.
