Melinda Hannigan has been honored by inclusion in a book, "Women of the Sea". This beautiful slim volume by John and Patience Wubben tells the individual stories of women whose living is somehow derived from the sea, including river and bar pilots, Coast Guard officers, fishers, marine engineers, and in Melinda's case, as a painter whose work is based on her artistic interpretation of the beauty of tankers and ships.

The book is beautifully illustrated in full color and includes photographs of the women described as well as generous comments from them about their work. In Hannigan's case, several of her paintings are shown as is her studio workspace complete with supplies and work in progress.
