Lorna Nakell was awarded a residency at Weir Farm Art Center in Conneticut and attended in September of 2008. The organization provides an Artist-in-Residence program on the farm of American abstract artist J. Alden Weir. The site was designated a National Park by Congress in 1990, and the Art Center preserves the buildings and landscape that have inspired artists for the past 120 years.
Some of the work created by Nakell during her residency are seen in her current exhibit. These pieces clearly make reference to the topographical elements preserved by Weir Farm intended to inspire the artistic imagination. Nakell was especially drawn to the old stone walls on the Farm and has incorporated their images in several of her works. |
